http://web.bcnewsgroup.com/portals-code/list.cgi?cat=23&paper=118&id=984... Issues surrounding uranium mining attracted the public to the Brilliant Cultural Centre on Saturday, May 12 to find a solution to stop it. Laura Savinkoff, who was the program facilitator and is the co-chair of the Uranium (Free) Kootenay-Boundary Representative and is with the Canadian Peace Alliance, said the importance of the forum was to bring people together and give opportunity for broadening the public knowledge and allow them to begin participating in their own well-being. “I think we have achieved our goal,” Savinkoff said. “This is an issue that can unite people.” With approximately 200 people in attendance, Savinkoff was happy with the attendance. “Delivering the message is important,” she explained. “We are not powerless. People putting pressure on the government is important and we must utilize local government.”

Hello. We'd like to be able to offer this website in the languages spoken in the communities impacted by the Uranium speculation now going on in the BC Interior. We can provide Russian and French translation for some of the user interface and menus. But if we are to provide translation of our site's complete content as well, that will require your help. We're seeking translators who will help us by translating from English to Russian and French, our existing website content (plus new content as it continues to be posted). We also hope that members of the community will step forward to contribute to our website, materials relevant to our work to protect ourselves from the threat of uranium contamination which were originally written in Russian and French. A special tahnk you goes out to those who can also translate those documents back to English for those mono-lingual among us. If there other language communities, users of this site would like to see supported, please speak up and let that be known. To volunteer to help build a multi-lingual website to support our work of keeping the uranium in the ground, please write and let us know how you can help.
