The history of the Gorleben salt dome, a potential nuclear repository, is one full of deception and political maneuvering. And if opponents to the plans have their way, the search might even have to start again from scratch.

Stop Dumping Radioactive Water in the Ottawa River

Ottawa – Sierra Club Canada is calling for the Canadian Nuclear and Safety Commission (CNSC) to end the dumping of radioactive water into the Ottawa River, and the drinking water of millions of residents downstream from Chalk River. A recent high reading for tritium in water from the Ottawa River is a cause for concern. Recently-announced plans by Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) to deliberately dump radioactive water have also increased concerns about public safety.

understanding on next-generation reactors for India as the Canadian
government closes in on a co-operation deal with the long-time nuclear
renegade nation.

to that, Australia’s uranium export is just 0.28 per cent of its
total mineral export. Australia earns just $400 million (US $258
million) from it out of a total export earning of over $100 billion
(US $64.5 billion).

Enough highly enriched U.S. uranium to make about 20 nuclear weapons was sneaked back to the United States from Japan over a 12-year period until last summer in a secret operation aimed at keeping it out of terrorists' hands, a senior U.S. official and Japanese specialists recently revealed.

agreement with India that would allow AECL to re-establish business ties,
despite concerns that India has not signed the international nuclear
Non-Proliferation Treaty.
